2.2 Writing Words 2
You are here: Shapes and Sounds Part 1 > Lesson 9 - p > 2.2 Writing Words 2

Work along with the video on words that use both long and short vowel sounds.

Rememnber to scroll down to view all the videos.

We start with some extra practice, reading the one syllable words from Writing Words 1.  Strategies for reading and spelling words with more than one syllable are then included in this video.  We will also be including syllable splitting patterns, and a consonant spelling choice.

Choose the ‘Building Speed’ video below to build quick responses to both vowel sounds.

This video includes all the speech sound to letter links that are in the first Building Speed activity as well as the letters needed for a long vowel and for a consonant spelling choice.

Use writing, or typing to practise your words again.  You can also read the words to someone else and ask them to write them.

Once you have the first written set of letters from watching the film, you can go over these letter-sound links again and again by asking someone else to say the sounds to you.  Remember – an automatic response to the sounds frees up brain space for the words you want to write.
