Work along with the video which explores an unexpected spelling of a sound that comes after long vowel sounds.
When you feel that you need a break, take a note of the time on the video by clicking the mouse on the red dot, or tapping it on the screen. You will then know exactly where you can restart.
Then, listen to the spoken sentences that use words with long and short vowel sounds, and then write them. You may prefer to write just one sentence, or paragraph, and take a note of the time. This will let you know exactly where to go in the film to start the next sentence.
Our sentences build into the first part of a story called ‘The Televised Surprise’.
The punctuation and the suffixes that are needed for each sentence will be discussed as the sentence is demonstrated.
Remember that you can use texting or typing as different ways of practising your reading and writing. You can also include your own ideas in the story.
