2.1 Writing Words 2
You are here: Shapes and Sounds Part 2 > Lesson 17 - d > 2.1 Writing Words 2

Work along with the video on words that include choices for consonants, and vowel sounds

Remember to scroll down to view all videos.

We will be introducing the suffix -ed in this lesson.  This suffix begins with a vowel, so we follow the same rules used when adding suffix -ing.

Use the Reading Words 1 video for some extra practise at reading one syllable words.    Please take a break between the activities if you begin to feel tired.  Take a note of the time when you press pause and you will know where to restart.

Use writing, or typing to practise your words again.  You can also read the words to someone else and ask them to write them.

Choose the ‘Building Speed’ video below to build quick responses to the choices covered.

This video includes all the speech sound to letter links that are in Building Speed 1 as well as the additional choices from the Section 2 activities.

Once you have the first written set of letters from watching the film, you can go over these letter-sound links again and again by asking someone else to say the sounds to you.  Maybe you would like to use a keyboard as a different way of practising.  Remember – an automatic response to the sounds frees up brain space for the words you want to write.
