Multi-sensory learning

Multisensory learning teaches information or concepts through the use of our senses like touch, movement, sight and hearing. These sensory clues help the child to remember the information.

All learning takes place through the senses of:

  • Sight – visual

  • Hearing – auditory

  • Touch – tactile

  • Body Movement – kinaesthetic

All children benefit from multisensory lessons. If a child learns something using more than one sense, the information is more likely to stay with them. The activities result in better memory of the skill. Multisensory learning can be particularly helpful for children who learn and think differently, like learners with dyslexia.
